Emerging Contaminants in Soil and Water

The global population increase puts tremendous pressure on the already dwindling natural resources such as soil and freshwater. Healthy productive soils well availability of freshwater are critical for agricultural productivity. On other hand, climate change variability make water scarcity problem even worse. Agriculture, being biggest consumer fresh water, is expected to be affected significantly. Yet, agriculture play a significant role in achieving greater food, fiber needs meet growing population. In addition, quality also becoming bigger threat productivity availability. Some portion nutrients applied urban landscapes end up runoff leaching that feeds streams, rivers, lakes, groundwater, etc. These excess nutrient loadings causing deterioration, which could have severe impacts human health, aquatic ecosystems, environmental sustainability. addition chemical pollutions, emerging contaminants heavy metals showing an increasing trend bodies. not only impair sources but get into food chain affect animal health. While evidence available threats from contaminants, research understanding still limited. This mini-review paper summarizes types their quality.
